Holes in exterior siding in home from damage by hail storm

Hail in hand on a rooftop after hailstormIf you suspect your roof has been damaged by a hailstorm, call your insurance company and get moving. Most insurance companies have a deadline which homeowners need to meet in order for them to cover damages. Don’t wait for leaks to show up before you make the call.

Telemarketers and Door Knockers
When hail strikes the telemarketers and door knockers come out of the woodwork. Check with the Better Business Bureau for their validity and service history. Roofing is fraught with substandard work and uninsured subcontractors. This is a good place to start.

Avoid contractors that want to lock you in to hiring them even before your insurance company has assessed damages or provided an estimate for repairs. It can be difficult to change your mind later and some companies will threaten to pursue you legally. Save yourself the trouble and back away from companies who use high pressure tactics.

Choose A Local Contractor
After large hail storms, out of state roofing companies will move into the area and pose as local contractors. You can often spot out-of-state license plates on their vehicles and they often carry an (800) phone number. Many times these companies will negotiate with local companies to bring in their own crews and salespeople to augment their businesses and temporarily work under a local banner. These companies quickly set up shop and typically promise huge discounts to homeowners. Out of state contractors don’t carry the same liabilities and consequences as local companies and that is often reflected in their work. Think about whether the next roofer who knocks on your door will be long gone if your new roof begins to leak.

Cloud Roofing & Construction will not sacrifice quality just to increase sales.
Recently the Texas Legislature enacted new laws restricting roofing companies from paying homeowner deductibles. Ask us or contact your insurance agent to find out how this affects you.

The Dallas, Fort Worth area has thousands of roofing companies, many are here today and gone tomorrow and most close their doors within the first three years. Choose a company with a longstanding reputation who will be there for you in the future, if needed. Cloud Roofing & Construction is that company and has been in business locally for 25 years!
